Class Descriptions

  • Classes are free to UNCG students and SRC members.
  • 5 participants REQUIRED for Group Exercise classes and 3 participants are required for Spin classes.
  • Spin participants must sign in NO EARLIER than 1 hour prior to the scheduled class time. Call 334-4030 (Main Desk) or come by the third floor Main Desk.
  • All other group exercise classes have a sign-up sheet in the Fitness Studio and are first come, first serve. Please bring a towel and water.
  • Classes are subject to change based on instructor availability or attendance, and are held in the Fitness Studio and Spin Studio at the Student Recreation Center.
20-20-20
20 minutes of cardio training, 20 minutes of body toning, and 20 minutes of core training in one class! Tired of a specific type of class? 20/20/20 is something new and exciting that allows you to sample a little bit of everything.
Ab Lab
After taking this 20 minute class, you will be sure to receive an A+. This class utilizes abdominal and lower back exercises to strengthen your core.
Aqua Aerobics
Use the water's natural resistance to improve cardiovascular fitness, muscular strength, and endurance while decreasing stress on joints (Swimming skills not required: shallow water). This class will meet in the HHP Pool.
Boot Camp
Attention! This class consists of easy to follow, high intense exercises such as plyometrics, jump rope, conditioning drills, abdominal work and more. Drop and give it your all!
Happy Hour
Kick off the weekend with a great workout! The instructor may incorporate a variety of aerobic activities in this hour-long class, including kickboxing, hi-lo aerobics, step, and muscle conditioning.
Capoeira
This class is an Afro-Brazilian martial art form. It combines dance, acrobatics and music with martial arts techniques.
Cardio Dance
A little bit of this and a little bit of that. Cardio Dance is a great way to shake your groove thang to a variety of music and styles.
Kickbox 30/45
This high energy, cardio kickboxinbg workout includes a combination of punches, kicks, muscle conditioning and flexibility.
Move n' Grove
Sixty minutes of movin' and groovin' is what this class is all about. Come "on tour" for a street style choreographed, non-stop dancing workout!
Pilates
Pilates mat exercises are designed to stretch, strengthen, and balance the body using a systematic practice of specific exercises coupled with focused breathing patterns.
 
PowerCut
Tone your body with this basic strength training class. This class incorporates using barbells and free weights in a motivational setting for a total body strength workout.
 
Power Yoga
Instructor Nancy Thornton, RYT, holds an MFA in dance from UNCG. In this special class she will teach Power Yoga making a mind-body connection which leads to improved fitness and relaxation.
Spin 30/45
Why ride alone? Come on inside and spin your way through cardio challenges, varying speeds and resistance levels, hill climbs, flat sprints, and more. This class is easy to follow - tough to finish. And with two class options (30 or 45 minutes) you can tailor your workout to fit your own personal fitness goals.
Step 30/45
Step up your workout! Power moves and choreography on the step make an excellent cardio workout. And, with two class options (30 or 45 minutes) you can tailor your workout to fit yoiur own personal fitness goals.
YogaFit 30
YogaFit blends balance, strength, flexibility and power in a fitness-friendly format, doable by individuals at any level of fitness.
Yogalates
This class incorporates moves from basic yoga and mat science pilates into one class. Learn core-conditioning, balance, and proper breathing techniques to reach that higher level.
zumba45
A fusion of latin and international music and dance themes create a dynamic, exciting, effective fitness workout. The routines feature aerobic/fitness interval training with a combination of fast and slow rhythms that tone and sculpt the body.
